Iyengar yoga focusses primarily on the alignment in the poses. It’s a more static and technical class which will help deepen your understanding on how to perform the poses. This class uses props (blocks, straps, chairs, bolsters etc) to support both beginner to more advanced students to get better aligned and deeper into the poses. The perfect counterpart to the more dynamic classes. Also very suitable for people dealing with injuries. This form of yoga is developed by BKS Iyengar, who studied with Pattabhi Jois (founder of Ashtanga yoga) under Sri Krishnamacharya. Both BKS Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois followed their own paths and paved the road for modern day yoga.
